SyncWords had the opportunity of captioning the 28th Annual Northwest Public Employees Diversity Conference, a three-day virtual event with a range of events and talks around diversity, inclusivity, and accessibility, three topics very close to us here at SyncWords. There was diversity in the topics as well, including A Practical Approach to Racism, Courageous Conversation series, Identifying Cultural Racism and Stereotypes, Working Effectively with Tribal Governments, and A Practical Approach to Antiracism. You can click on each program link to recap, via captions, the length and breadth of each conversation during the event.
Spread over three days, from October 19-21, the NWPEDC hosted difficult but important conversations that the world must have as it navigates the new world. Over the last year, the world demonstrated agility, especially when it came to communicating. Most, if not all, communication had to move to the virtual space as the pandemic raged, and until we figure out how to get back to “normal”, conversations will continue to be mostly online. As the world hunkered down, disparities in accessibility and inclusivity became clear. And tech platforms, in enabling online conversations, managed to bring the world a whole lot closer. We, at SyncWords, also realize the importance of helping the events we caption reach more audiences.
From the comfort of their living room, audiences were able to log in to events that had enabled SyncWords’ captioning widget and were able to engage with the events more intimately. SyncWords gives you the option to download transcripts of each event for those who need a recap. And for audiences whose native language was not English, SyncWords’ live translations in 100+ languages helped with better comprehension of the event in their chosen languages.
These values were echoed in the NWPEDC virtual conference. From one of the workshops: “To cultivate a truly inclusive workplace culture, organizations must actively acknowledge and mitigate unconscious attitudes and beliefs.” And yes, “there is opportunity for a collective effort to correct the inequities and injustices of the past and present, and usher in a more promising future.”
Whatever be the focus of your event, SyncWords is there to caption and translate it live for your audience. If you are hosting a virtual conference or event centered around diversity, choose a platform that has SyncWords enabled to cascade your message to a worldwide audience.
